Introduction


This progress report has been prepared to meet our organization’s obligations the Accessible Canada Act (ACA) and the Accessible Canada Regulations (ACR) in New Brunswick. The purpose of this report is to provide updates on the progress HCRS Industries has made in implementing our Accessibility Plan and improving accessibility for customers, employees, and visitors.

Our organization remains committed to identifying, removing, and preventing barriers to accessibility in our workplace, customer service areas, communications, and daily operations. This report outlines the actions completed to date, areas currently under review, and future accessibility goals.

Progress reports are intended to explain the progress organizations have made in carrying out their accessibility plans and should include updates on feedback received and consultations regarding accessibility improvements.

Employment Progress Made

During this reporting period, HCRS Industries has continued to support accessible employment practices by:

  • Informing applicants that accommodations are available during the hiring process.
  • Providing flexibility and reasonable accommodations for employees when required.
  • Encouraging respectful and inclusive workplace communication.
  • Reviewing workplace policies to identify barriers for employees and job applicants..
  • Providing staff with accessibility awareness information and guidance.

Ongoing Commitments

We will continue reviewing workplace accessibility needs and make reasonable accommodations whenever possible to support employees and applicants with disabilities.


Built Environment Progress Made

HCRS Industries has taken the following steps to improve physical accessibility at our facility:

  • Maintained clear walkways and entrances free of unnecessary obstacles.
  • Put up a handicapped parking sign next to our front entrance.
  • Ensured customer service areas remain accessible and easy to navigate.
  • Reviewed parking and entrance accessibility for customers and visitors.
  • Improved lighting in customer-facing areas to increase visibility and safety.
  • Continued monitoring shop floors and walking areas for slip, trip, and mobility hazards.

Due to the nature of a heavy-duty repair facility, certain shop areas contain operational and safety limitations; however, efforts continue to improve accessibility wherever reasonably possible.

Future Actions

  • Continue evaluating entrance accessibility and signage visibility.
  • Assess additional accessibility improvements during future renovations or upgrades.
  • Review accessibility needs annually.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Progress Made

During this reporting period, we have:

  • Improved the readability and accessibility of digital communications where feasible.
  • Used clearer formatting and larger text in customer-facing documents.
  • Increased the use of electronic communication options such as email for invoices, estimates, and customer correspondence.
  • Reviewed online content and social media practices to encourage accessible communication.

Future Actions

We will continue working toward improving digital accessibility and ensuring communications are available in accessible formats upon request.

Accessible organizations are encouraged to ensure digital communications follow recognized accessibility standards and use clear, simple language.


Communication (Other Than ICT) Progress Made

HCRS Industries has continued efforts to improve communication accessibility by:

  • Communicating with customers in clear and respectful language.
  • Offering phone, email, and in-person communication options.
  • Providing additional explanations or written information when requested.
  • Ensuring staff understand the importance of patience and respectful customer interactions

Future Actions

We will continue reviewing communication methods to ensure customers and employees can access information in ways that meet their needs.

Procurement of Goods, Services, and Facilities Progress Made

When possible, accessibility considerations are included when purchasing equipment, services, or facility upgrades. This includes:

  • Vendor Selection: When procuring goods and services, consider accessibility features and select vendors who prioritize inclusive design.
  • Selecting products or services that improve usability and accessibility where practical.
  • Reviewing customer-area improvements with accessibility in mind.

Future Actions

We will continue reviewing purchasing practices, services, and facility improvements to help ensure accessibility considerations are included wherever reasonably possible and practical for our operations.


Design and Delivery of Programs and Services Progress Made

HCRS Industries has continued providing accessible customer service by:

  • Assisting customers who require additional support.
  • Welcoming support persons and service animals.
  • Responding to customer accessibility concerns on a case-by-case basis.

Future Actions

We will continue identifying ways to improve customer service accessibility and reduce barriers where possible.


Transportation

As a heavy-duty truck and trailer repair facility, HCRS Industries does not provide public transportation services. However, we continue working with customers to provide reasonable accommodations related to vehicle drop-off, pick-up, and customer service access when required.


Feedback

Feedback Received During this reporting period:

  • No formal accessibility complaints were received.
  • Conducted one in-person questionnaire with a wheelchair-bound customer

Informal feedback from customers and staff continues to be welcomed and reviewed by management.


How Feedback Was Considered

Any accessibility-related feedback received was reviewed internally and considered when evaluating operational improvements and customer service practices.

Consultations

In preparing this progress report, HCRS Industries:

  • Reviewed feedback from employees and customers.
  • Considered accessibility concerns identified through day-to-day operations.
  • Discussed accessibility improvements internally with management and staff.

HCRS Industries remains committed to improving accessibility within our workplace and customer service operations. While we recognize there is always more work to be done, we are proud of the progress made to date and will continue taking reasonable steps to identify, remove, and prevent barriers for employees, customers, and visitors.
